Sod & Seed
/l/1600/1681_s.jpg A panorama of green grass outside our windows seems to be a basic American right, an essential part of home landscaping.

Lawns and landscaping provide that encouraging sign each spring that life is returning, and in summer, that lush green turf becomes an invitingly cool place in which to wriggle your toes.

Blue Diamond offers our customers the option of sod or seed. Let us help you decide what type of lawn-installation is right for you.

If you like instant gratification, sod is for you. With sod you can literally go from dirt to a lush green lawn in one day.

New Sod Care:
New sod will require consistent moisture for the first 7-10 days to ensure even root development. Water lightly to keep the sod moist at least twice daily for 15-20 minutes. Once the sod has begun to "knit" to the soil surface, increase the duration and decrease the frequency of watering. Eventually, watering twice a week for 45 minutes to an hour will be sufficient. Adjust schedule for hot or dry weather.

Seed requires a little more patience than sod- but is less expensive to install. All of our seed is sod-quality and there is a perfect blend for your level of sunlight.

New Seed Care:
Germinating seed and young seedlings will quickly die - if allowed to dry out. Water only to moisten surface twice a day. Adjust schedule for hot or dry weather. Do not over-water causing runoff. Re-seed any bare spots that do not sprout.
Gradually reduce water after emergence to encourage deeper rooting. Once grass covers 60% of the ground, the surface should be allowed to dry out between waterings.
